Lets get out and do some fly fishing. Whether you have a fly rod that has been collecting dust in the garage or have thought about giving it a try. It's time to get on the water. I am offering an intro to fly fishing which is a 2hr session on one of my favorite fishing spots. In the spring we will be after crappies. The rate for 2hrs is $65 bring your own gear or use mine. For someone that already has fly fishing down I have some great spots for pike, bass and carp.

I focus mostly on fishing the Mississippi from Aitkin to Little Falls. The Cuyuna Mine pits and other small remote waters in the Crow Wing, Cass and Aitkin County areas. I use quality fly, spinning and bait casting equipment. My boat is a 17ft Bass Tracker or a 16ft crestliner depending on the water levels and the location. The areas that I fish are as close to a remote Canadian trip as it gets in central MN.

On the Mississippi my target fish are smallmouth, largemouth bass, pike, muskie, catfish and walleye. The river is a blast because you never know what you might catch when you fish it. I don't fish for walleyes too often, but when I get into a good bite on the river I will take advantage of it. I know plenty of excellent walleye guides if that is what your looking to catch.

I also take advantage of the little known population of trophy pike and smallmouth bass population in the Cuyuna Mine Pits. You need a trout stamp to fish these waters, but with an excellent chance at 20 plus pound pike, or a 20 plus inch smallmouth and undeveloped shorlines its a great trip. Don't forget about the great trout fishing too.

Keep an eye on the reports page for up to date info on the action.

Contact : 218-330-6543 or darrell@explorerguideservice.com to schedule a trip or to be added to a list of persons to call when the bite is on. I can call you and if your available we go.

All you need is your fishing license and trout stamp if fishing the pits. Please dress according to the weather. Bring snacks and beverage if you'd like. You can bring some of your own equipment if you'd like just let me know so I can load the boat accordingly.

The Possibilities are endless for what and where to fish here in central Minnesota.
